The March Lion just didn't seem to want to leave this Spring. I started to write one day but decided that I would wait until the sun shine promised to stay around. So...here I am...finally. I do believe Spring has arrived. The weather has warmed and there are a surprising number of trees that are just bursting with new little green leaves. Flowers seem to spring up in the most unusual places...and the sun is shining!!!
In fact, I thought I would share this new season with you via photos. At the moment I am waiting for a new camera to be delivered but in the meantime, I was out today with my favorite little camera that rides easily in my pocket.
I was 'watching' the springtime wind. Amazing how you cannot 'see' the wind, only the results of the wind. Our yard is very wooded - large, tall oak trees - and the tops of those trees were very boldly swaying in the wind. I could hear the wind...and I could see the trees moving but I simply could not see the 'wind'. Interesting.
Our daughter and I were walking with our little 'almost to be' two year old grandson. The love he has for absolutely everything...including his grandma :) is wonderful and so fun to experience with him. I can look deeply and carefully but it is impossible to actually see that stuff we call 'love'...but I can sure see it with the grin and the excitement on his face or feel it when he puts that little hand in mine.
Spring is kind of like that. We talk about it and we prepare for it and we long for it to arrive but if I were to have to describe that warm fresh air coming in the window after a long winter or the delicious smell of wet earth after a rain...well, it's just hard to explain. You just have to experience it.
When I see the little green shoots at the ends of branches or find spots of color coming through the dried leaves on the ground...you better believe I know what Spring looks like. Recently we had a long, heavy rain. There is beautiful waterfall 'just down the road'. Today the water was rushing down over the top. When God took all that time to create the water and the trees and the flowers and the wind...I believe God just knew how that would fill our spirits. Nature can revive us on the most ordinary of days. I am excited every time I see the two bluebirds at our bird feeder. It is such fun to walk on a hiking path when new growth is beginning to show. Is there any other season when the smells after a rain or the birds that being to sing even before the alarm tells us that it is morning can be so pleasurable!!
I think Spring is here to stay. The seasons are so reliable...kind of like waking up each morning. But...every time it happens we are in awe. WOW! Here it is again. Another Spring. Another new day!
Thanks, God. You sure knew what you were doing!!
I hope Spring has found its way to where you live. I think we are always in need of 'Spring' in our lives. We all have those heavy things that weigh on us and when spring arrives...whatever it may look like to you or however it may feel in your heart, somehow it lifts our spirits. Here's to a wonderful Spring in your life!!
